Special Events

Memorial Gathering Thursday Afternoon:

All are invited to join the Memorial Gathering around a small fire in the Commons Area/A&S tents on Thursday at 4 pm to remember our fallen SCA comrades. Feel free to bring photographs and other mementos to display on a memorial table, and a goblet and your favorite beverage for toasting the departed. Paper and pens will be provided to write memories and messages which will then be ceremonially burned.

Special Note: Due to multiple gentles passing away in the greater al-Barran community in the last week, the al-Barran baronial financial committee met on Sunday 5/17/2026 and determined to allow for a special event site fee of $0 for the Memorial Gathering scheduled for Thursday 5/21 from 4pm – 6pm at Grand Outlandish. Gate will allow access for this special event beginning at 3pm, with the expectation of attendees of the special event leaving the site no later than 7pm. Non members will be required to sign a waiver at the gate.

A Vigil for the Honorable Lady Asha the Easily Amused will be held in the Lemon Grove Camp Friday night

Feast Friday night: Protein will be provided by Lord Wulfila Raedwulfs sunu.  Please bring side dishes to go with smoked meats!  Contact Daniel Lindenmuth on Facebook to coordinate dishes.

Camp Crawl Saturday Night – A Night to Try and Remember – My last Outlandish was probably during His Majesty’s first reign in, what, AS XXX?  I will never forget walking from one camp to another and being welcomed to a fireside and offered a chance to have a drink and share tales with folks I had never met.  In that spirit, I’d love for us to have an event-wide party of sorts.  If you wish to join in, we are working on a list of camps who want to participate and trying to coordinate their offerings to wandering friends and strangers.  We would love for everyone to have a chance to meet new people, whether you are hosting or just exploring.

If you want to HOST one of these meeting places, please coordinate with me (Erik) and we will post a list of campsites and what they are offering.  We want to bring back as many popular drinks and treats from the past as we can! To get us rolling, this is what I have so far:

His Majesty Hrothgar will be serving gin and tonic

Erik will be serving Roga and Black Death

Lady Kolfinna will be serving Nostrovias

Duchess Aria and Count Simon have mentioned hosting s’mores

If you don’t know what any of those are, come find out!  Other ideas I’ve heard include mead, ciders, Drygestan Water, Calontir Rainbow Party, Rumplemintz and more!  Bring back something great this Outlandish.

If you want to volunteer to host let me know what you want to serve and where you will be.  There are currently fewer fire pits than camps, so we may want to share space, build more fire pits, or even host in some other area.  Or, if your camp doesn’t want to participate, we won’t invade your fire.  Please just let me know that you would prefer not to host random guests.  Everyone will be required to abide by the rules of the hosting camps as well as local laws.

Siege Cooking: – Siege Cooking is back!  The Pirates; esteemed winners of last year’s showdown, are heading up the fun this year.  A Piratey twist is promised this year to make the game that much more fun!  Put together your team!  Bring your best!  The day: Saturday the 23rd.  The time: Pick up the challenge baskets after opening court around 10:00 AM.  Cook the day away and judging will be at 4 pm sharp!  In order to properly facilitate this, your generous hosts need to know how many teams are going to be signed up so we can appropriately acquire ingredients.
Please fill out the form linked below to sign up, any team that has not filled out this form will not be considered signed up. We will not be accepting late sign-ups due to the nature of the ingredients being acquired.
For any questions or inquiries, feel free to message Jayden G. Cruz on Facebook, thank you.

Martial Events:

Last Seat Standing Tournament:  On Friday there will be both a heavy and rapier version of combat musical chairs in honor of Her Majesty Ingriðr.  All entrants MUST have a consort to compete in the musical part of the tournament.  In each round two chairs will be removed rather than one.  Then the two consorts left without a seat will entreat their fighters to go win a chair back for them.  The fighters will duel over a single chair and one of them will win the right to get their consort back into the game for the next round!  Shenanigans are encouraged.  Let’s have some violence for the consorts for a change.  In a dignified and ladylike manner, of course. We aren’t barbarians!  Unless we have armor on…

His Excellency, Sir Trevor’s scenarios for heavy weapons fighting:

Friday – 5/22 10:00 am – Castle battles – Traditional battles to be fought on and around a hay bale castle in the melee field.

11:00 am -ish – Viking Raid & Pillage When the defenseless town saw they were about to be raided by two opposing Saxon forces, many villagers took the city’s most valuable artifacts and hid them in the woods before fleeing. Find as many artifacts as possible and get them back to the longship while also defending yourselves from the opposing raiders. Artifacts Include: · Holy Relic – 10 points · Chest of Gold – 5 points · Illuminated Manuscripts – 3 points · Silks – 2 points · Wine – 1 point · Pyrite – 0 points – (Each round one of the previously mentioned items will randomly be chosen as Pyrite). This scenario will tentatively be four-man teams, to be adjusted according to number of fighters participating. The object is to collect as many of the artifacts as possible and get them back to the ‘ship’ to score points. All weapons are to be six-foot or under and fighters must have a gauntleted hand to grab an artifact. The plan is to have seven rounds when teams can score, but that can be modified if we’re all having fun. Points will be tallied when one side has been defeated. Teams must bring artifacts to the rendezvous point (longship) in order to receive the points. The team with the most points at the end of one hour will be the victor. Ties will be determined by a one-time melee between the teams.

1:00 pm – Woods battle will be fought within the boundaries of the melee field.

Saturday – 5/23 10:30 am – Lord of Outlandish Tournament Come one, come all for the legendary Lord of Outlandish Tournament! Older than this great Kingdom of the Outlands and inspiration for the Kingdom’s name itself, this is a double elimination, two-out-of-three tournament. Winner claims the title of Lord of Outlandish and the right to name their chosen Lady of May as well as being given an honorary seat with their Royal Majesties, Royal Highnesses, and Landed Nobility during all courts for the duration of the event. Don’t miss fighting for this prestigious honor. List opens upon the ninth hour and fighting shall commence at half past ten after court.

Iron Man Competition – The Citadel Speed Tourney (R) will be the second event in the competition directly after the Lord of Outlandish, followed by the Outlandish Archer competition at 3:30.

2:30 pm – Duke Koris Memorial Tournament.

Sunday – 5/24 10:00 am Knights Bannerette – Pageantry and prestige will be on full display as teams of four fight for the honor to carry the Champions Banner. Teams of one Knight with three non-belted fighters who will be heralded in at the opening of the tournament and matched against each other (double elimination, best two out of three, weapon of choice, no killing from behind). Immediately after the Bannerette tournament Pick up Woods Battles – We will sponsor woods battles for fighters as their teams are eliminated from the Bannerette. No restrictions.
